What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on, non-invasive technique used to assess and treat restrictions or altered patterns of craniosacral motion. These restrictions or abnormal patterns are indicative of dysfunction or pathology caused by physical or emotional trauma.
What is Craniosacral Motion?
Craniosacral motion is caused by the movement of cerebrospinal fluid. This motion, detected by the therapist during CST, is constant and stable when the body is in a healthy state. Disturbances in this rhythm help the therapist to identify areas of dysfunction or restriction throughout the body.
What to expect
During a session the client lies on their back, full clothed, on the massage table. The therapist will perform gentle palpations and manipulations at various points on the body to find and deal with any restrictions. These techniques stimulate and support the body’s own natural healing mechanisms.
